Employee Benefit Information

In addition to a competitive, annually reviewed salary schedule, the City of Monett offers its permanent employees an outstanding fringe benefit package, which is briefly summarized below. Additional information is available from Human Resources.

Tax Deferred Plans(Tax-deferred plans are subject to IRS rules & regulations)
Section 125 Premium Only Plan Group Insurance Premiums are eligible for pre-tax deferral.
457 Deferred Compensation Plan All full time employees are eligible to defer pre-tax dollars into this plan.
Group Insurance Benefits
Medical & Dental Coverage Employees and their eligible dependents are eligible to enroll for coverage effective 60 days following date of employment. The City pays a specific amount toward the cost of medical coverage.
Supplement Life Insurance Employees and their eligible dependents are eligible to enroll for life insurance benefits 60 days following date of employment.
Long-Term Disability Coverage Coverage under this benefit occurs immediately upon employment.
Post Employment Benefits
Social Security The City and the employee each contribute 7.65% of the employee's salary to Social Security.
Supplementary Pension Plan (LAGERS) All eligible City employees are automatically enrolled in the Missouri Local Government Employees Retirement System (LAGERS) following the first six months of employment. Contributions to this plan are paid in full by the City.
Roth IRA All full time employees are eligible to contribute dollars into this plan.
Miscellaneous
Overtime Overtime may be available to eligible employees, and is payable at 1-1/2 times the employee's hourly rate. Professional, administrative, and supervisory employees who are not eligible for overtime remuneration may be allowed flexibility with other time-off provisions.

Provisions for Time Off(NOTE: Time-off accruals and provisions vary for some public safety operations)
Vacation Leave Eligible employees (excluding Fire) receive 80 hours of vacation effective one year from the initial date of hire and are eligible to use vacation at the discretion of the department head.. Vacation is accrued at eight hours per year up to 160 hours. Forty hours may be carried over each year.
Floating Holidays One "floating" holiday is allowed per year (excluding Fire).
Holidays Ten holidays each year with full pay (excluding Fire). If a holiday is worked, equal time off or pay is provided.
Sick Leave Accumulated at four hours bi-weekly.
