Updated 3.13.2024: We are out of compost at this time. We will have more compost at the beginning of September and will be sold on Saturday while supplies last.

The Compost Division is responsible for converting yard waste into usable compost and mulch. The Compost Center is located at 15th & Broadway, Monett, MO. This facility was made possible by funding from the City of Monett, Southwest Missouri Solid Waste Management District N, and the Department of Natural Resources Solid Waste Management Programs.

The following items can be dropped off for composting: leaves, grass, hay, straw, and yard waste. These items can be dropped off on Tuesday (7:30am-6:00pm), Thursday (7:30am-6:00pm), & Saturday (10:00am-2:00pm).

Compost: Compost adds organic matter and helpful microorganisms to your soil. It is made from yard wastes, including leaves, grass clippings, cornstalks, hay or straw, wood chips, and other plant debris, which are windrowed regularly for decomposition to occur. The materials are then screened to uniform size and texture.

Compost is sold the 1st Saturday starting in March, while supplies last. We will have more compost at the beginning of September and will be sold on Saturday while supplies last. Compost is sold ONLY on Saturdays from 10am-2pm. Cost is: $10/scoop for residents while $20/scoop for non-residents. Each customer is limited 2 scoops per visit. Scoops are approximately 2.5 cubic yard.

Mulch: Mulch is made from chipped brush. It absorbs rainfall and runoff, therefore preserving moisture in the soil.

Mulch is ONLY sold on Saturdays from 10am-2pm. Cost is: $10/scoop for residents and $20/scoop for non-residents. Each customer is limited 2 scoops per visit. Scoops are approximately 2.5 cubic yard.
