Last year, the Monett Regional Airport officially opened its expanded 6,001-foot runway allowing an increase in capacity for larger planes and an opportunity to boost the local economy around the Monett and surrounding communities. The 2023 ribbon cutting and Fly-In event welcomed more than 500 guests to the airport.
This year’s attendees will enjoy free breakfast provided by the Monett Lions Club beginning at 8:00 am. The event includes an airplane fly-in where guests will be able to see a broad display of planes. There will be information regarding the airport’s history, facts about the runway and tours of the airport grounds. Emergency response vehicles from the community will be on hand - fire, police, ambulance and the CoxHealth helicopter - as well as the Civil Air Patrol STEM displays for youth.

The local Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 821 is sponsoring free aircraft rides for ages 8-17 in partnership with Elite Aircraft Services (EAS) Flight Training. EAA Chapters work to bring people together to share knowledge about aviation, as well as being involved in educational opportunities including Young Eagles rallies, fly-ins - and more - to build awareness in the community.
Brian Hunter, Airport Board President and Vice President of Travel for Jack Henry, said “We hope this event will excite the community about aviation and allow them to see first-hand the opportunities the airport offers our region. We want guests - young and old - to see aircraft up close and have a chance to tour our grounds.”
“It is with great pride that we invite our community and region to our Fly-In event." said Chris Weiner, City Administrator of Monett. "We’ve planned a morning that will showcase the impact our regional airport has on our community along with a family-centered focus for all ages to enjoy.”Fly in 23 3
“The 2024 Monett Fly-In is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come out and see what a great facility we have at the airport and get a good look at some of the aircraft that fly in and out of the Monett Regional Airport,” said Monett Mayor Randy Burke. “Our airport provides a unique economic opportunity for Monett and its industry partners that many of us may not often get to see first-hand.”
