Options for Utility Payment Methods:

- City's equal pay program requires one-year residency, current payment history, and auto draft or debit from bank account.

- Pay thru Xpress Bill Pay's online service or thru their iOS mobile app
- Pay by mail to Monett City Utilities, 217 5th Street, Monett, MO 65708 or at City Hall.
A utility deposit is required of all rental customers and will be kept until services are terminated and at that time applied to your final balance. When moving anytime within the city limits, a deposit is always required. Customers will be allowed to transfer deposits when moving to another location in town that are paid up to date on their account and have lived at the residence for at least 1 year with 12 months good payment record. The definition of good payment record is the customer is current for each of the previous 12 months, no late payments or payment arrangements. No deposit is required for homeowners. The owner will need to provide proof of ownership. If the City of Monett uses the services of a collection agency for collecting past due amounts, the past due customers will be directly responsible for any fees associated with such services.
Connection of Utility Services:
Arrangement for connection of utility services must be made between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Customer must be current on prior utility services with the City of Monett in order for service to be connected at a new address. Utility bills are always due on the 5th of each month, unless the 5th falls on a weekend or holiday, in which case the bill will be due the following business day. The penalty charged for late payment is 10% of the bill. Utility bills not paid five (5) days following the due date may be disconnected without further notification or unless arrangements have been made with the Collections office at 235-3763. The City of Monett will charge a $20 fee for any returned items associated with a customer’s account.
Reconnects for Utility Services:
Before 5:00 p.m. on regular business days: There will be a $25 reconnect charge. Customer must contact and pay past due balance at City Hall.
After 5:00 p.m.: There will be $50 reconnect charge between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on regular business days. Customer must contact and pay past due balance at the Police Department at 1901 E Cleveland.
Bank Draft: (ACH)
Offers customers the option of having payment for their utility bill automatically deducted from their checking account. To be eligible for the bank draft program, the customer must: 1) reside in their current residence for a minimum of six months, 2) must have maintained a good credit history with the City for a minimum of six months, and 3) must be the account holder listed on the utility billing and also on the checking account.
Draft for payment will occur between the 5th and the 10th of each month. Returned drafts for insufficient funds are cause to be removed from the bank draft payment program and utility services may be interrupted for non-payment. Penalty for insufficient funds will be result in a $20 service fee. The third insufficient fund will also result in removal from the Bank Draft Program for a twelve month period.
Equal Pay Program: (level pay)
Hot summers and cold winters can cause significant swings in your electric bill and problems for your budget. The Equal Pay program can make rising and falling utility bills
a thing of the past. With our Equal Pay program, you won't have to deal with any surprises in your energy costs.
This plan is available upon request. Resident must have no more than two (2) late payments in the last 12 consecutive months of billing. Also, residents must not have
issued any bad check or bad debit entries to the City of Monett within the last 12 consecutive months of billing.
The average monthly payment under the plan will be determined by dividing the previous 12 months utility bills by 12. The average monthly payment will be calculated and
adjusted each July.
It shall be a requirement that all residential utility customers applying for the equal pay program must be set up for ACH.
Trash is picked up once a week. Trash should be placed in trash cart provided by the City. Trash must be out by 7:00 a.m. on your designated pick-up day. Designated trash days are listed on the City website under City Departments, Sanitation. Carts will not be picked up if yard waste, ashes or construction materials are in the cart. Extra trash will be picked up if the customer is current on their utility bill, bags/boxes are under 40 lbs. each and are marked with a sticker which can be purchased at City Hall for $1.00 each and have no expiration date. Customers may call 235-3763 to make arrangements to have larger items picked up by the City. The cost of a special pick-up will be added on to the customer’s utility bill.
The Monett Recycling Center is located at 205 15th Street. Hours of operation are Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pick up for compost and mulch is Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. only.
