Tree Growth Regulator (TGR) Program

Monett City Utility tree crew is starting their Tree Growth Regulator (TGR) program. TGR’s have been developed to slow the growth of woody plants. Applied to the soil near the base of the tree, the growth regulator is a natural hormone that tells the tree to promote root growth instead of growing limbs. While the products don't stop growth, they do slow growth significantly for a period of approximately three years. The TGR program helps cut down on trimming trees around power lines. They are focusing on the trees with faster growth to make trimming equal throughout the city. This treatment is safe and non-toxic to vegetation, animals, and people. The crew is supervised by a certified utility arborist. The crew is putting a small blue tag on the trees they treat to locate the trees. Please do not remove the tags. This will start in Tree Trimming Zones 1.
